Can Someone Do Istikhara On Your Behalf
Istikhara, a personal prayer to Allah for guidance, is a common practice in Islam. It is especially useful when making important decisions like marriage, business, or significant life decisions. Since they are the ones who will be directly impacted by the decisions made and personally participate in the decision-making process, it is advised that individuals conduct Istikhara themselves.
Although it’s customary for people to ask for guidance and assistance from others, particularly from learned and devout people like scholars or religious leaders, the actual act of Istikhara is usually carried out alone. This is so because the decision-maker is the one who will ultimately be accountable for it and its effects.
On the other hand, it is not unusual for someone to ask others to offer prayers, such as the Istikhara Dua, on their behalf. In Islam, it is encouraged to ask people for prayers, especially from the pious and honest. Although these prayers can be helpful and blessings, the actual process of making decisions through Istikhara is still an individual affair.
It is therefore better for the person seeking guidance from Allah to undertake the act of Istikhara themselves, even though others can pray for you and provide counsel and direction.
